Vitalic, or Pascal Arbez, is to take to the Heineken Green Spheres stage in the Dinn Ri on Thursday September 20th for the fourth Green Sphere’s session of the year. The tour included a stop in Kilkenny for New Young Pony Club earlier this year but clubbers should enjoy this night in September.
Vitalic’s work is a blend of rock, electronica, techno, house and more, all with its own “hard-edged playfulness” as has been touted in the press.
As with all other Green Spheres gigs you can throw your name in the hat for free tickets by visiting HeinekenGreenSpheres.ie.
With staff here high in KKM Towers involved in the 2007 Battle Of The Bands in Kilkenny, we’ve noticed a drop off in crowds in comparison to last year and a drop off in the number of acts as well. Speaking to a few people at yesterday’s heat (the last of four heats), it seems the same is happening in Carlow.
Four acts, four tracks, the latest Sound System Podcast has hit the iTunes store and features an impromptu track recorded live during the podcast session by the KKM crew. Give it a listen! You’ll also get music from Thoughts Of Ruin, Parhelia and Eyesclosed.
If you’re in a band in Carlow and you want to get your music played on the Sound System Podcast then drop us a line! We take mp3s / mp4s via email or we’re happy to accept demo EPs (no matter how good or bad you think they might be!) by post if you prefer the snail mail approach to doing things.
That said - if you’re in a band and looking to gig in Carlow or Kilkenny and you want your music played out to our listeners (who we value) then the same applies, drop us a line!
If you’ve seen KilkennyMusic.com of late you’ll know what it is we do in the online and offline world. While the Arts Office here in Kilkenny have been great at helping us expand in the offline world, we’re hoping that YOU can help us expand in the online realm.
CarlowMusic.com is aimed at being the number one resource for all things music in Carlow and it needs your assistance in doing so! We’re not talking about going door to door or trawling the streets handing out fliers and leaflets, but we’d like to hear from you via email to info@carlowmusic.com if you can fill us in on gigs that are coming up, things we’re missing out on and opportunities you would like to see explored to help boost music in Carlow.
We’re calling on bands to submit their profiles to CarlowMusic.com as we prepare a fantastic band resource for you to listen, stream, download music and photos for Carlow based bands (and likewise with Kilkenny based bands) and a whole lot more besides. If you’re interested in contributing to the content side of CarlowMusic.com then send one of us an email by clicking here.
We’re back, one week later, just like we said we’d be. We’ve a One Take Sessions special as well for you which for some reason is packed with the strangest - I mean STRANGEST - of topics. The lads from Tortured Artists Social Club were wondering if we’re “off our heads” when recording, which I can tell you now that we’re not, but you’d be forgiven for thinking so after this podcast.
Must offer up an *explicit language* warning again, just to be on the safe side. We’ll have to make some serious changes and edits for the radio, don’t you think? That’s the risk you take with a completely unscripted, unprepared, off-the-cuff podcast. Great success.
We’re also chatting about The Aftermath, PodCamp Ireland gets another plug (and will continue to do so), there’s Ross’ discovery about tumbleweeds, Mickey’s new tip of the week, thoughts on the ‘Sessions and all the acts and much more in about 43 minutes.
Our thanks again to Gordon, Michael, Ian and TASC for making it an incredible One Take Sessions yet again. These things just keep getting better! We’re back again next week with recaps from the Battle Of The Bands, the Aftermath gig, ITF’s double weekend header and so much more besides.
Kilkenny progressive metal outfit Itchy Trigger Finger (who have our - KKM - wholehearted backing) head for Carlow and Clonmel this coming Saturday August 11th. Catch them in the Vinyl Bar on Saturday afternoon from around 1pm (they’re headlining so will be on a bit later in the afternoon) before the move on to the Piper in Clonmel on Saturday night.
If you’re new to the whole CarlowMusic.com thing or haven’t heard of KilkennyMusic.com at all then I suggest you check out our latest podcast! We’re back with the 19th edition of the Sound System Podcast which has been running since late in 2006. We’re a little behind schedule (about two months) but hopefully that will be forgiven as we get back on track!
Go here to listen to the podcast (stream or download) or check below to start playing all 79 minutes and 19 seconds of its extended glory.
